The Doctor K Cup

94 watchers
The seventh annual Doctor K Cup will take place on Saturday October 7th 2023

How to join in

Firstly, add the 2023 Doctor K Cup to your Fetch portfolio.

All you need is a GPS watch or app. On the day, RUN AT LEAST 5K WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH. The Fetch Benchmark system will pull out your fastest 5k from your run (so you can include it as part of your long run if you like). The person who gets closest to their prediction will be declared the winner (though the judges decision is final!).

It would be lovely if you could upload your 'K' pics to the gallery (make a K shape with your fingers) to help us remember Doctor K and all the Fetchies we have lost.

NB A GPS watch reporting 5.00km will do so from 4995 metres onwards, but you MUST run at least 5000 metres or more. To avoid disappointment add an extra 10 seconds on to the end of your run, just to make sure.

I asked a few pages back, but is there any option to donate (like it was a race fee)? Thanks. :-) G

Well done everyone.

I ended up a DNS - finally thought I might get out for a walk yesterday evening when yet more Life happened.
Next year!

I think the Dr K Cup might be my favourite event of all. It’s certainly the only one I do every year (especially now there’s the virtual option) and the only one I’ve ever come close to winning (last year).

I agree Dio. Least if like me and you're not a fastie and never likely to win a race you still have the same chance of a win. I'm lucky to have won it in 2019 :-)

As my physio gave me permission to start running again at 11:15 yesterday. I took advantage and ran a naff and wet 5k, I was 1:11 off my predicted time, but that’s not the point is it.

Disappointed I didn’t get time to take part after a long day yesterday, but so glad everyone got to enjoy it.

Christ on a bike! I looked last night and thought Rosehip had it in the bag. 1 second off prediction would have won it any other year but I think fir the very first time that Winniefree has hit the bullseye and is bang on the button. I’ll give until 6pm tonight for any who hasn’t uploaded their run before announcing the winner, however, their can only be another joint winner as nobody can beat Winniefree!

Awesome stuff.

About This Thread

Maintained by Joopsy
2023 Instructions

Add the following race to your portfolio:

fetcheveryone.com/races/the-doctor-k-cup-8754563

Enter your predicted time by October 6th (the day before the run).

On the 7th October, run at least 5k WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR WATCH OR GETTING ANY PACING HELP!!!

RESULTS WILL BE POSTED HERE:

fetcheveryone.com/doctorkcup.php

Fetch will extract the results by looking at your benchmarks for 5k (so for your own sake, avoid tunnels, tall buildings, heavy tree cover, pylons etc). If you are running a local 5k loop, please add a bit on, just to make sure that your watch registers at least 5k's worth of data. But no peeking!

The person who is closest to their predicted time will win the 'Doctor K Cup' for one year.

NB Doctor K was a big parkrun fan - so you can do your run at parkrun, but ***PLEASE*** make sure you cover at least 5000 metres. A GPS watch reporting 5.00km will do so from 4995 metres onwards, but you MUST run at least 5000 metres or more. To avoid disappointment add an extra 10 seconds on to the end of your run, just to make sure.
