I'm not belittling eating disorders in any way. Very serious problems. I was thinking that it just wasn't something that we had discussed much in here (happy to do so). And if we are discussing it here, someone knowledgeable might need to set the ground rules. Otherwise I'm likely to extol the virtues of cayke ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I didn't think you were belittling them G, just in my experience people with alcohol issues have other issues going on and its highly likely that a good proportion of people initially get into running as a way of weight control. You've no need to watch what you say either as this is a thread for supporting alcohol. Sorry if my post cane across defensive itbwasnt meant to be. |

Not at all mate. No problem with your wording. I was just being cautious (you know me!) and checking I wasn't mistreating the subject. It was an interesting read that article. I can def see a lot of runners and gym workouters generally having issues with food - keeping weight off for running, putting bulk on for body builders etc. Potentially very dangerous. Thanks for posting. ![]() |

Joopsy, interesting comments. I started running to manage weight. I don't think I have an eating or alcohol disorder but know I could do much better on both fronts.: Alcohol - I rarely drink to excess ,but I rarely go a day without a drink. I would like never to drink to excess again and would like to keep the regular drinking at bay. Eating - I just eat too much and all the wrong stuff. The combination of the 2 mean my weight goes up. I actually find the alcohol bit easier as I will give up for 3 months from 1/1 every year....the food bit though is something I havent mastered yet. neither is the controlled return to moderate alcohol |

Wow Sigh, that's amazing. Really significant downward trend. From high 60s to 50 or below. Impressive. ![]() |

Actually, thinking about it, if the principle of "you've only got a fixed number of heart beats" in your DNA (2.2bn average for humans, they reckon), then 20 fewer beats per min for your resting is 28,880 per day. That's more than 1/4 of your daily heart beats saved! So you're going to live 25% more years over your remaining life time?! ![]() ![]() |
