"England" have won the Ashes ... I wonder if South Africa have any decent soccer players we can rebadge then we might actually win the World Cup too.

After another good test match there can't be anyone who has watched the series and believes that the 20/20 slogfests and one dayers is the superior form of the game -different but not as absorbing as a test which invariably illustrates the ebb and flow of the game over a few days -and over a series.

It's also why I won't pay over 40 quid to watch a 20/20 next weekend at OT -I'd pay it every time for a test though.

Good win for England but they weren't that dominant over the series -which made it a great series for me.

It does intrigue me when Ponting stated he doesn't understand why they lost when they've score more centuries and have the highest wicket takers and run scorers (not true Strauss topped the list by 26 runs!) in the series - simples - it's a team game!
Australia 2732 (8 x 100s) runs scored by 14 players, 81 wickets (2 x 5wi) taken by 7 players, England 2608 (2 x 100s) runs cored by 15 players, 69 wickets (4 x 5wi) taken by 8 players.
As you can see, batsmen set up the bowlers to take 20 wickets and our bowlers were more consistent over the 5 tests.

At the end of the day it's all about the bowlers!! You have to take 20 wickets to win a game and Australia struggled to do that!! Does anyone know why Lee didn't play in the final test?

what ponting is saying is like someone losing a 5 set tennis match but the two sets he won by 6-0 and the sets he lost were 7-6..so he won more games..so what!! still lost mr.sour grapes..so ha! ha!

I actually thought Ponting came across as gracious and a real leader. He's also a brilliant bat.
