So... in an hour or so, it is our mini aquathon: 400m swim and 3k run (on a treadmill because it is -6C and snowing) and I am still so nervous I feel nauseous. It's a stupid thing; I did a full standard tri in August and I know I can do it. It doesn't matter for anything. So why do I feel so nervous? And will it ever get "normal" to race?

Nerves pre-race are entirely normal (as far as I'm concerned anyway) and your body will use the adrenaline well! Good luck!

you never get less nervous about a race - you just learn to handle the better - no nerves = complacency and that can be worse in a race. good luck and enjoy |

The only upside is it ensures you don't need the loo during the race!! The nerves'll disappear as soon as you get stuck in. GOOD LUCK!! |

Haha! Sitting here trying to decide whether or not to dope with Pocket Coffee or if I am wired enough. The whole thing should only take 20 minutes and even I can normally last that long. (I see you're catching up - where have you been?) |

Nice support team I've got going on locally here. One child just called me a dafty-chops and the other is singing "You're going to looo-ooose... you're going to looo-ooooose." Just as well I discovered the friendly Fetchies! Thanks! |

I was enjoying some random posts on the Pope thread... Now there's a phrase I didn't expect to be writing!

Right, thanks all. That's me off then! It's bloody freezing and in true Icelandic spirit, the swim and transition are outdoors and the run indoors. Brrrr....
