Hi all

Looking to buy new shoes as mine are nearing the end of their useful. Currently in Equalons but am considering something less structured but with good support. Equalon again not really an option as they gave me a blister on my toe.

Am thinking of:

1. Asics 2160 (Have run in Asics before)
2. Nike Structure Triax.

3. Saucony Omni

Advice gratefully received.

I have a pair of those Asics and hate them. They have a funny bit of support under the arches which presses up and feels every kind of wrong. I'd go for the Sauconys but I'm a Saucony fan boy so feel free to disregard what I have to say as horribly biased. Find a retailer which has all of them in stock and try them all out. You probably won't find that ridgy bit under the arches of the Asics.

Used to wear 2160's. Ran in them for 2 years. Good shoes but never really felt perfect, so changed to Brooks Adrenaline GTX 12. Now they are good shoes........

Thanks Rich. I had Omnis before and got on ok with them. Will try on the 2160s at my local JJB... I assumed they were similar to other 2100 series but that arch thingy sounds like a change.

Cheers Mel.

Heard great things about Brooks too. At this rate I could become the Imelda Marcos of running shoes. Lol.

The feel like putting on slippers but nice and structured. Just a personal thing but I wouldn't by shoes in JJB. No good advice, and if you go to Sweatshop you may pay a tad more, but if they're not right they'll change them within 30 days, even if well worn. Also they have a treadle for you to try them out on, as do Runners Need and most good running shops.

Mel

Have never bought from JJB...just go in there to try them on for feel as they are local to me. Use online or independent running retailers to buy stuff. Primarily because of the advice.

+1 for Adrenalines or Omnis ..... I've found both are supportive and comfortable. I'm on my third pair of Adrenalines and they'll be the next pair I purchase as well. Have tried 2160s but the toe box was too narrow for me on anything above 5 miles or so and blistered my toes quite badly. Enjoy your shopping ;)
