It's the 11th time I've entered since I last got in. So if it is a 1 in 20 chance to get in, I've now had 11 chances. So it's a 11 in 20 chance one of them will have been successful, so now the chances of any having been accepted are over 50%.

I know statistics doesn't remotely work that way and it's still only a 5% chance. But I'm hoping the ballot doesn't know that.

It's a pity that the same z-listers get their charity places every year. Simply as the charities believe that they know people with a bob or two (or are happy to put £2k on the table without much effort). After a few marathons, and even upping the ante to make it harder and more interesting, I can't generate as much sponsorship to go the easy route and take a Golden Bond place - even if I have a genuine association with them. The ballot is really my only option as I'll never make a GFA.

I've lost count of the number of ballot applications I have done - still with zero success. I have done London four times - three charity places and one on the old five rejections and you're in the following year. I'm thankful that I have done four and mustn't grumble. It's one of those races where you would like to do one more but wouldn't be too bothered if it never happened again.

finally threw my hat in the ring for free, not giving up £70 when the chances are so slim & have to pay £100 for a charity place.

I hope all the Fetchies running in London tomorrow have a great race. The 2023 ballot is open, the race is back to April where it belongs. Who's put their name in the hat?
