One thing I've observed is that tagging threads with years isn't always very helpful as it links lots of disparate topics that are only related by year. For example, I removed some year tags from Book Group threads as these had nothing to do with races or targets or Strictly Come Dancing. In most cases it's the topic that's relevant, not the year.
