Right, so I got cramp in my calf early in my marathon on Sunday and ran and walked to the finish with it not really responding properly to my commands, if you know what I mean. It's been stiff and sore since but yesterday and today it has swollen up noticeably. My first thought was that it's just bruising coming out around the small tears I've undoubtedly inflicted on my muscles but it's not something I've had before. Has anyone else had similar reactions? Should I be worried? Should I be seeking medical attention? |

I know nothing either by the way Nellers, I would suggest you get it looked at though. |

Might be a torn muscle rather than just cramp. |

I always thought cramps were due to lack of fluids/salts/electrolytes etc... It seems strange to get cramps early on in the marathon unless you've got something else going on, and it depends how badly you thrashed your legs to finish. I'd take some ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) and book in to see the docs. Either that or amputation... |

needs looking at, certainly doesn't fit for simple cramp having said that the only recommendation is likely to be RICE and anti-inflammatories Try rubbing some diclofenac gel into it |

Not wanting to panic you or owt, but I've had this twice after marathons (my last 2 actually....) Both times they were DVTs. I thought it was cramp..... Prob best to at least get it checked |

Funny you should say that GF. Doc suggested that may be my problem the other day and I thought was caused by inactivity. Obviouslynot... |
