Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Am toying with incurring the wrath of Mrs Exile and buying a Suunto Core, I'm particularly interested in the altimeter and compass functions. Does anyone have any experience(s) with this device? I'd love to hear them if so.

Cheers :-)

I've got one that must be about 5 or 6 years old now that no longer gets used. Neither altimeter/barometer, compass or thermometer were particularly accurate and one of the buttons has given up the ghost so I can't do a forced reset on it. Looks nice if you're into understated black but I wouldn't buy another one.

Oh, and they want €33 to even look at it.

I've ...

Got a core black. Not worn it since I got my Fenix 3. It was ok, altimeter worked reasonably as long as it was calibrated. You're welcome to borrow

That's kind of you, but no need. I was speaking to another mate yesterday who said much the same thing and I decided to go for it, I managed a price-match with Go Outdoors who knocked another 15% off, meaning I got it for 143.99.

I did consider a Fenix 3, but in the end discounted it. I've got enough GPS devices if I'm honest and although the Fenix is a terrific thing to have, the Suunto should provide the functions I'm really looking for.

Got something to say?
