Am toying with incurring the wrath of Mrs Exile and buying a Suunto Core, I'm particularly interested in the altimeter and compass functions. Does anyone have any experience(s) with this device? I'd love to hear them if so. Cheers |

I've got one that must be about 5 or 6 years old now that no longer gets used. Neither altimeter/barometer, compass or thermometer were particularly accurate and one of the buttons has given up the ghost so I can't do a forced reset on it. Looks nice if you're into understated black but I wouldn't buy another one.

Oh, and they want €33 to even look at it.

I've ... Got a core black. Not worn it since I got my Fenix 3. It was ok, altimeter worked reasonably as long as it was calibrated. You're welcome to borrow |

That's kind of you, but no need. I was speaking to another mate yesterday who said much the same thing and I decided to go for it, I managed a price-match with Go Outdoors who knocked another 15% off, meaning I got it for 143.99. I did consider a Fenix 3, but in the end discounted it. I've got enough GPS devices if I'm honest and although the Fenix is a terrific thing to have, the Suunto should provide the functions I'm really looking for. |
