Just thought I'd chip in here as well, my 10km pb is 52:24, but I did a 5 miler (approx 8km) in 40:10 in October without a watch (I had a watch but it decided to play up on me on the day), which should translate to about 50:20 for a 10km. And that 5 miler was after a rather heavy night out the night before! I've got my first 10km since I set my pb coming up in a couple of weeks, and I was really confident about getting under 50mins but I've since had a few issues with my legs, a heavy cold and the threat of redundancy stressing me out within the space of a couple of weeks, so I'm no longer as confident. However, I'm over the cold, my legs feel ok (although a little stiff after a my first long run for a few weeks) and I've been told my job is safe, so I'm looking forward to getting in a few more weeks decent training. I've also got myself a Garmin now, so I should have a better idea of my pace on the day. |

Thanks for the welcome guys - it 's not my confidence in general that's a problem, just for this race due to the lack of time. I'm pretty sure my half in March will be awesome ![]() Don't give me any encouragment to enter more events, I'm addicted to them as it is! I've got the Great Manchester Run coming up in mid-May, so perhaps another 10km in April would be pushing it a bit. |

There is a group - Mr Fetch himself started it. I dunno how many of its members have achieved sub 50 http://www.fetcheveryone.com/groups-view.php?id=15 |

I did my first parkurn on Saturday, got round in 24:30 (a 5km pb) so perhaps I'm still in with a shot at 50mins in a few weeks. Feeling much more confident about it now!
