Congratulations on the pb, TD - sounds like you're well on track to hit it soon.

Well, you can spend as much time training and preparing for a race as you like, but sometimes there are variables you can't control, like the weather.
I had expected to go sub-50 at the City of Manchester 10km this morning (and would have been delighted with around 49 mins), but as I stood there at the start in the heat (and knowing it would get hotter during the race), I had to re-evaluate my goals slightly.
So I guess I'll just have to be happy with my 47:50 instead, won't I?

For My Light
Another 10km for me next weekend, with Notfast 10km. Never done it before but heard it has a killer hill half way round, so just hoping for a solid run and maybe sneak a few seconds off my last 10km.
Still a long wy off sub 50, but slow steady improvement will please me
Well done sprouty76, now could you kindly leave the forun as you are showing us all up

Cheers guys - yeah, I'm absolutely made up (and can't quite believe it!)
Pammie - you're right, I think I could go faster on a cooler day, but probably not much - the heat really didn't bother me much today, I hydrated well and didn't panic which was the main thing. I only have one more 10km pencilled in for this year, and it's in the middle of August so not sure if it will be cooler anyway!
FML - lol - no, I'm going to stay here and be all smug for a little while

Sprouty LOl but remember what country we live in
How about 5kms you pretty much ran at 5km pace today so possibly that could be improved. Whatever training you've done its worked

Yeah, good point about the weather!
I've got a 10 miler planned (but not entered, yet) in about a months time - my current 10 miler pb looks a bit soft compared to my other distances (due to it being set on a very hilly course), so I'm planning to do a nice flat one one
There's definitely scope for bringing my 5km time into line a bit too, but I'll probably try that at a parkrun.
