Tricky call with no perfect answer, auburnette. Your three spring half marathons predict sub-3:45, you're training well, and Amsterdam is a fast course. I think it would be worth planning your training as if you were going for sub-3:45 and make a definite decision nearer the time depending on the information your training has given you.

And then don't get carried along at 3:30 pace at the start of the marathon ;)

I agree with V’rap your half marathon times are decent.

A very good runner told me once for your marathon time half x 2 plus 10 minutes.

That's a rather brave equation and I wouldn't rely on it for those of us whose marathon time doesn't start with a 2.

My recent marathon time = double my recent best half marathon time + 16 minutes. Maybe it works in proportion to your speed.

Mine will have been a fairly honest comparison. The fact that I did the half three weeks after the marathon rather than before it may be offset by the fact that on paper I didn't do sufficient training for the marathon.

Mine was double + 14 minutes but I always err on the side of caution as I don't want to blow up in any race.

My only half before my marathon was during Storm Eunice, 1:52, so getting 3:49 for the marathon was a result😀
