It was Gobi - 4 of us crammed into a little car, music on, lots of running chat. Was meant to end in a party at one of the usual runners' house but he had a stomach bug and had to pull out.

A couple injured runners cycled the route between runs and joined the parkruns that were cycle-able.

I bet that was fun BB, maybe would have been even more fun in October!

If you enjoyed that then maybe a team at Endure might be a good thing for you next year?

Yeah good shout WW, but part of what was good about this for me was doing 9 different courses. One of the runners yesterday was a Thunder Runner and has asked me before about doing that. I give it a think and then see pics of the mud bath of the final few laps and decide against it.

Fleetwoid half is, or at least was in 2009, a decent course. It was two laps along the seafront and back and flat. Ok as long as there isn’t a sea wind.

Well done Bruno. I can imagine that is pretty tough to get going later on after a gap between each one. Superb pace overall.

Cheers Daz, it definitely got harder (and hotter), the first few hundred metres of each of the last few were a bit creaky!

Hello sub-3ers. I had a question that I would appreciate your thoughts on. It’s been a long time since I posted here as I ended up with a bad injury last year and had to sit out six months completely. I am now back training for an autumn marathon with a new coach who is very knowledgeable (he also runs at a top level).

Nowhere in the plan he has given me are there large blocks at marathon pace, which were my key sessions in all previous training plans. He takes more of a, say, 6x 2k MP/1k float approach in the middle of a long run.

I managed to run a 1:18 HM recently, which was close to PB and surprised me as I hadn’t done any of my usual longer MP/HMP blocks, so the plan seemed to work well then.

I guess I am just nervous about going to the marathon start line without my usually load of 10-20k blocks of MP under my belt. Do any of you prepare for your marathons just with the repeats of shorter distances at MP and a float approach, or do most of you lean toward the longer MP blocks? Thanks in advance.
