That sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Still, a win's a win (and pretty impressive in such a competitive race too) and not really that far off what you were aiming at even a bit frustrating when you were capable of a bit better.

Looks like your fastest 5k since 2009? If your data is complete. Not too shabby for an old man :-)

Jda - actually my fastest since the first injury that started the end of my distance running career.

The 09 16.34 was just before I tore fibre in my pelvis and 3 months before the first broken egg.

More good than bad in the result really just expected a little more and was surprised by the behaviour of people.

Managed to run 17:31 in a road 5K last night, first time under 18 for 3 years (apart from a parkrun in December) and my fastest time since turning 60 a couple of years ago. Pleased with the way things are going now.

Whilst I'm here what are people's thoughts on running 2 flat out 5Ks in 4 days?

I'm visiting a mate near Amsterdam and there looks to be a very fast flat parkrun there which we'll be running on Saturday. My main goal for the summer is the Doncaster Town centre 5k which is next Wednesday. The forecast for Wednesday evening looks rather toasty (28 degrees). I'm not great in the heat, even over 5k, so I'm thinking to hedge my bets I might try to blast the parkrun on Saturday, do relatively little else apart from short jogs between then go again on Wednesday.

Any opinions? I follow the Welsh runner on YouTube and he ran 2 5ks in 3 days and the 2nd was a bit faster.

Excellent time, looks like a WAVA best of 91-92%? Rarified air getting over 90% - big respect
