Yeah Midlands 6 stage is planned and open, Nationals 2 weeks later.

There's nowhere in the calendar for the missed Spring and Masters so they won't be back till next year.

We won the v40 category at the Rother Valley relays yesterday evening (6th overall). I clocked my leg at 15:59 for the 2.93 mile lap, so assuming I could've held on I’d say that would’ve been roughly 17 flat for a 5k.

The Hallamshire Harriers team took over 8 minutes out of us, winning by 3 1/2 minutes (from their B team). Their top runner (Andrew Hayes) ran 13:32 😲

18.23 last night, much better paced splits although I got no hrm data for an unknown reason so no post race review possible.

18.13 still no hrm data. One more attempt in August to keep my membership of this thread else it's banishment to the sub 19 crew for me...

Lol, surely you stay unless you've given up forever. At least you're going in the right direction.

Copy & paste from the track thread.

Won the B race 5000 in the league with ~ 17:12 and 3rd overall on Sunday

3:26.7, 3:27.4, 3:26.2, 3:28.2, 3:23.6.

Splits indicate a pretty much perfect 5000 and it was a solo effort. I started slower than I planned though and because I was going for controlled, I wasn't prepared to work that hard today and just settled (was always the plan, but it was humid today and I felt tired this morning). The top 3 were off in the distance (1 dropped out, the other 2 lapped me on my penultimate (their last) lap) and a 4th one was in no man's land and I was confident of reeling him by just maintaining.

So not quite sure where I am for MK5000 on Saturday, could have lots in the tank, or only a little. My 3000 just over a month ago suggests I should have a bit more in the tank (I'm faster at 3000 than when I set my 5000 PB) but we'll just have to see. Hopefully today helps to sharpen me up a little.

I’ve never managed sub 18 but it doesn’t stop me trying!

Nice running SPR.

Strange how differently people handle different distances, jda. I have no problem with sub-18 5Ks, and would be hoping for something like 17:30, maybe 17:15 at the moment under the right circumstances. But I cannot ever imagine getting anywhere near the times you get for the marathon.

Just checked and I am 12s slower than jda at 5k but 12 minutes slower at Marathon !

I would be happy with sub 20 right now and doubt if sub 19 will ever happen again !
