I've had to give up on the race on Sunday, I've been ill for a week and haven't run a step. No point in a decent drive to MK for a less-than-decent run out over 5k!

There are plenty of races appearing on the calendar round here tbh so no massive issue.

Sorry to hear that WW.

I was wondering whether I should have entered but I've just heard Birmingham postcodes have been told they can't run!

Unfortunately I think a lot of races are going to end up getting cancelled, as stricter anti-Covid measures are brought in again.

Ugh, that's the 1st kind of area-specific guidance being applied to race entries that I have heard of. I'd assume that applies to all areas under deeper lockdown rules so would also rule out Lancashire, for instance. I doubt there are many entered from Lancs but assuming that London and the SE get stricter provisions again in very short order there could be a bigger issue!

Stay safe.

St Helens club relay was cancelled due to local (Merseyside) restrictions. I think the cancellation was done by the organisers rather than insisted upon, but they were expecting to be written to to confirm that it needed to be off.

My 10k next weekend is still confidently saying that the covid secure arrangements they have in place will keep them clear of cancellation at this point - but who knows what rules could be imposed.

Since all the talk is of household social mixing, there's got to be a good chance that commercial/grass-roots sport will be ok under strict restrictions. And EA guidelines are already v strict in comparison to other sports (IMO).

Wrexham Marathon has been put back to 18 Oct from what I've heard. Assuming COVID related which isn't promising for it going ahead then as can't see things getting better.

I'd not spotted that about Wrexham, but yes 18th now seems to be the date. No idea when that changed though?

I know someone running the race (actually at least 3) hence how I found out about the date. Not sure when it changed though but must have been within the last two weeks.

MK5k are holding back start lists in case tomorrow's announcement puts everything on hold.
