Stupid question?

I've just found some instant oats in the back of the cupboard, with a best before date of March 19 & May 18.

Still OK to use? After all, they're only dried oats (albeit one with golden syrup & one with apple & blueberry).

Or should I avoid & buy new?

I'd try them. Waste not, want not. Some people are bizarrely fanatical about dates on food packaging.

I’d eat them.
You’re going to pour boiling water on them.

So long as the innermost packaging hasn't been damaged, I see no reason why they wouldn't be fine to eat (may not taste their best any more but that's all).

If they're not wriggling, and smell OK, I'd eat them.

Won't know if they're wiggling until its too late to get an alternative 🤔
