I was told that rinsing straight after wearing would reduce the problem so tried that and then thought - why not add a bit of detergent?

Now I hand wash straight away and have a bottle of detergent in the bathroom for the purpose.

Derby Tup
Some fabrics (polypropylene is bad) are worse than others. Merino lambswool is naturally antibacterial. Wool is amazing stuff

Wash straight after (or at least the same day), non-bio detergent with antibacterial laundry additive à la Dettol or the Tesco own brand equivalent. Seems to work best.
