Picard is very different from TNG. When you do start it, commit to it - Picard’s situation at the start is distinctly depressing, and he definitely doesn’t get everything right, but things do improve.

I've started my rewatch of DS9 - first time since it first aired in the 90s. I was still at school then and found it a bit slow compared to TNG and Voyager, but have always suspected that I would appreciate it more as an adult.

And...I'm hooked. Its brilliant! Why have I waited so long?? The complexity and ambition of it is wonderful, and the religious and political storylines feel uncannily prescient given what's happened in the last 20 years.

Finished season 1 of the expanse.

It's ok and interesting in a way, but I'm not blown away by it

Really Fozzy? Each to their own but I absolutely loved it.

The Thomas Jane "Sam spade"-esque side of the story just wasn't that particularly gripping and didn't hook me at all and his portrayal of the weary cop looking for missing girl was very hackneyed I found - not surprising since it's been done many times.

The "cant" side was better, but a bit fireflyish.

In fact that's generally what it reminded me of - firefly minus the humour and spun into a mystery story with bits of star trek, Arthur c Clarke and Battlestar Galactica included.

This doesn't make it *bad* - just that I wasn't blown away by it. It's still watchable.

Whereas I did think the reinterpretation of lost in space was very good. Certainly the first season. The 2nd was somewhat weaker.

Have to say I really enjoyed the new episode of DISCO. Book looks like he will be a great character, yeh it was high on the action scenes, but there was enough pure trek in their to get me excited..

I do have to start watching the Expanse sometime soon, but with BSG available on iPlayer I'm rewatching that before it disappears as well as my never-ending rewatch of all the other trek series, currently at season 6 of DS9, where its starting to get pally at the moment :)

Thanks for The Expanse recommendation. Just finished series 1 and look forward to the next season. So fresh compared to STD, the least said about season 3 the better.
