Or it might be easier to process a .csv version of the spreadsheet, at least in the days when I could write shell scripts.

When you have three columns of data under the same heading you kinda need to merge some of them surely. More common for me is displaying results with uncertainties lower down the same sheet you get the +/- in the middle which is a narrow column but above is normal data so merging is often the way to do it. Not averse to weird designs or really wide columns mind if i cba playing around with cell merging to make it fit right either though. |

You can centre across selection without merging cells. Presume that's what the shortcut does. Merged cells are an abomination. |
