P20 is of course, only factor 20. They claim in their packaging that the difference above 20 is minimal (95% block at 20, 97% block at 30 etc).
No idea how true this is.

I use Nivea Kids 50+ water resistant spray, quite light and seems to stay put
I like the spray because I can squirt passing children without having to pin them down!

I got some Factor 50 Coppertone Sport as recommended by Fetchies last year. Spent all day Thursday in a field on a school trip and not a bit pink. Does sting a bit if it gets in your eyes but seems to last on runs.

We had the coppertone stuff (but I bought it in USA) and it was brilliant, spray on mist stuff. Just bought a similar one from Piz Buin, but I do like the Piz Buin 'One Day Long', its not greasy and seems to last well.
Agree with JonnyO about P20, turns clothes yellow. I also *think* its not got as good UVA rating as other suncreams.
We also once had a mousse in a can that was brilliant, haven't seen it recently, somebody said you can get it online and its sold as anti-allergy

Don't try the Boots own spray on mist, supposed to be dry-touch but actually greasy, my legs still felt greasy this morning after wearing it yesterday!

I'm pretty burnable and I find the banana boat sports stuff in the little orange bottle works really well. I use 30 or 50 depending on how hot and how long a run.

Factor 50 Nivea seems to have done the trick today during the Bupa 10,000 :-)

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as the weather's getting warmer. Have noticed a new (to me) brand, Calypso, which seems the same as Riemann, but half the price (even less if you shop at Aldi). Also Riemann now seem to do SPF 30 and 50 versions.

I seem to recall something about UVA and UVB both being important, but not many sun lotions even mention the latter (and if they do there are no stars).

Is there anyone around who knows about this stuff, and can let us know what we need to look for to avoid skin cancer and/or looking like David Dickinson?

(I should also mention that, to me, Riemann smells like marathons.)

UVB is the stars, UVA is the number.

UVB causes burning?
UVA causes skin ageing?
Both cause cancer??? (I think)

Best to protect against both. I am currently using Banana Boat waterproof, which seems very good.
Factor 50.

Another vote for banana boat from a deathly pale blonde who can take 6 hours to do a marathon and a bandanna round the neck to prevent back of neck burn as regardless what cream I use that bit always burnt.
