Spleen
Should have been the England women's football team for the team award and either Bronze or Fury for overall. Both exceeded expectations by miles at the highest level of their sport.

The Davis Cup is an exhibition circuit, nobody cares whether Britain's bums can beat another country's bums unless it's the final. I do realise it's only a phone poll and there isn't any real logic to it.

Sinfield would win the "If you polled an alien planet who had never heard of any of the competitors or their sports, and were voting solely based on the VTs, who would win" competition, and deserves his second place. I don't follow touch rugby but he's clearly a very dedicated professional who deserves more recognition.

I thought that Tyson Fury made a good play for the Westboro Baptist vote. Blew it by singing publicly though....

By and large, sports people are quite dull individuals. They know nothing of The Life Of The Mind.

Didn't Damon Hill win it for coming second in the F1 Championship after being brutally shunted off by Schumacher in the winner takes all showdown, and reacting with the classic British 'good sporting loser' stiff upper lip?

Where do you find out the voting results?

As an aside, I see that the BBC have pulled the plug on F1 3 years early to save money. I personally find F1 as dull as dishwater these days but it's yet another sport the BBC doesn't do now. It's a bit of an embarrassment for them that all the clips are from other broadcasters. They will probably shortlist the Strictly winner next year!
