I'd have thought that if you're going to a physio for the massage, then they'll apply exactly what's needed.

I've only had one. That was on the Wednesday between getting a calf sprain on a Sunday and racing the next Sunday. It was Ok to walk on bu I shouldn't have run.

Four days would be about right. I had a calf strain a couple of years back and my OH used to be a PT and do sports massage, so he sorted me out. It will hurt tho, just to warn you.

On a similar note, can sports massage help with the early stages of shin splints (when it's muscle / tendon inflammation rather than bone damage)?

Ta, Wobbs - I knew it would be a Bad Thing on a stress fracture but mine's only at a soft-bits inflammation stage so far. :)
