There are plenty of short-date energy gels etc. on eBay, that's my main source. The only products I've had any problems with are the SIS gels, they seem to go off after a couple of years so maybe they're less packed with preservatives? Their fancy protein ones tend to curdle after a year too, yuk. I keep them in the fridge, but I'm not sure whether that helps or not.
