Has anyone had any experience of one? I'd be interested in one which charges a Galaxy S4, can be carried on a rucksack, and is fairly rugged. I'm looking at the Powertraveller Powermonkey Explorer, which retails at £65, but it'd be good to hear from someone with actual experience. I'm only going to be away from a charger for about 15 hours.

*Caveat, I have no personal experience of these products*, but if away from a charger for such a short time, wouldn't you be better off with something like firebox.com ? Half the price, half the weight. For 10 quid extra they also do one which will charge a smartphone twice.

I have used a solar charger in very remote high altitude locations to charge my Garmin during the day and it worked well.

I use a phone smartstick/portable charger thingy on my LSR's too and they work fine (and better on cloudy days :-))

amazon.co.uk

Just charge it up beforehand and your all set.

Oh fantastic! It's for a 60-miler I'm doing in August, but as prep I'm doing a 40-miler in May so before the beginning of May would be grand - are you doing Oakley?

Nope still injured from Baldock. Just about managing 3 miles at the minute but calf is still niggling and would never manage 20 :-/

I'll see if I can get you one, our Blackberry service providers give them to us on occasion and they should be in in the next week or two.
