Yes WW, that would have been us.

Having knowledge of the course certainly helps, but there's always the uncontrollable weather factor - I've done the race/run on sections of the course with so many different weather conditions. Hopefully there will be a repeat of Saturday's weather for the 2019 race, but I doubt it!

I’ve watched the footage every year so nice I first ran it in 2009. Women’s race was more interesting than the mens. Russell bossed this year’s race from the start but I’m sure if he had serious competition a course Pb was on and would have made better tv. Nonetheless, His motivation must be sky high to have raced solo the entire route.

I loved how the bloke that won suggested the way to get a good time is go out hard, but the lady that finished 3rd employed entirely the opposite strategy ;-)

I think the coverage is pretty good, although I miss the little pieces that they used to do featuring individuals/clubs with interesting stories.

I am amazed that Russ Bentley clocked the time he did given the races he did in the lead upto the Snowdonia Marathon, notably the Berlin & Chester marathons and the Abersoch & Manchester half marathons. The man is a machine.

I did feel sorry for the runner from Aberdare who was in second and completely blew going up the final climb (although it meant my clubmate and good friend was able to come home 2nd)

larkin - I know you like your stats - have you had a look at any of the race results statistics? I read with interest someone who had downloaded the times from the various timing mats on the course and looked at the relative (%) times re the 1st and last hill:

To PYP PYP to 14m 14m to 23m 23m to finish %tage Total time

Mode 00:47:18 01:10:46 01:41:41 00:32:04 86.9% 4:11:49

Median 00:45:14 01:24: 01:40:34 00:40:28 89.2% 4:30:56

Average 00:45:35 01:26:37 01:42:02 00:41:43 91.5% 4:35:56

I also liked the stat that only 3 out of the 2120 runners (who didn't have a missing split time) recorded a negative split - I wonder if the winning lady was one of them?

I think I come out as 90.5% on that metric - 36:36 up PyP and 33:08 over the final climb. Would be nice if there was a mat at the top of the last climb though for a real analysis.

JB - is the negative split stat taken from the 14 mile timing mat rather than true halfway? If so, I am one of the 3!

49 minutes from start line to PYP, 37 minutes from 23 miles to finish line...

My maths is shoddy - 33 minutes for the last leg, not 37!

I don't want to look at my split for that section!

I did look at the photos though - they are worth a look at least if you haven't already....

They've done a great job with the photos, whatever they used to get the colours so vibrant is very impressive. Shame it's 7.50 for each download.
