I’ve got a short trip booked in March. Even that is looking doubtful. We’ve booked the hotel but not the flights and think the hotel is not paid for anyway, it’s the one we went to in early 2020 and we’re planning to go to last year 😢

Oh dear Meg, I haven't booked any flights yet and I'm hoping to get out late Feb/March for a few weeks.

We're looking quite seriously at buying XC / mountaineering skis and hoping for a snowy winter. I don't think we'll be alpine skiing this season :(

It's been eight years since we last went skiing. Anyone want to buy some nice K2 skis, ski bags and a mountain of ski-fettling kit?

That's screwed our plans then AR,so many hops we have been trying to jump through. Firstly when the Swiss said we could not travel through Geneva we changed our flights to Lyon (£) . then Macron through his toys out of the plan, so we have booked flights to Austria as a back up, really looks like its all off next year.

A few of us have got ourselves testing exemptions over the past week.

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
Hi Angus
That's what I've got - touring skis, that you can hike, go uphill and then take skins off and clip bindings in for any decent downhill sections. Very versatile, ideal for Scotland! Have used them each year since buying! :-) G

That's exactly what we're thinking of doing. Just even løypering some gentle slopes around the local glens.

About £1K for skis, bindings, boots, poles and skins. Might be cheaper second hand. Great workout doing a couple hours (or 5!) walking on skis. Especially uphill! :-) G

We are quite close to deciding. Given that we're not going to be spending ~£4K on a family skiing holiday this season we might well invest it in gear instead. That way we'll get loads more from it for years to come.

Apologies if I've already asked you, G, but where did you get your kit from?

Testing exemptions? How do you go about getting those?

I was wondering as you can still test positive on a PCR for up to 3 months.

In St Anton, the travel PCRs are bought through the local supermarket and they're all the spit tests, no poking about involved, and an almost instant result.

OK I've held off long enough.

If you're heading on a board or the planks, where are you off to?...
