OS, you can walk up to Exmoor from the start of the SWCP in Minehead. It's stunning at the top.

Yorkshire Pie
I don't think I've ever been to Skegness. Our "tacky" resort was always Blackpool - first day trips from my grandparents house in Wigan, then they moved to St Annes so just next door. Then my sister moved there too so I still visit the area although I don't go into Blackpool itself much any more.

Part of the Yorkshire side of my family originally came from Whitby so if we were going to the coast on this side of the Pennines that's where it would always be. As a result I rarely went to Scarborough/Bridlington etc.

The other "regular" trip was the Polio bungalow at Burnham on Sea (my grandfather was disabled due to Polio and there was a converted holiday cottage that he could book weeks in through a charity, it was big enough for the rest of the family to go too).

Minehead to Bossington is very nice indeed, OS. Minehead itself is a bit grubby but I suspect most seaside towns are.

Always fancied a trip to Whitby for a bit of Stoker tourism.

Burnham and Berrow are both OK, Brean is verging on a Somerset version of Skeggy.

Burnham is worth a visit if only for the Parkrun.

I've done the Burnham parkrun, it is good. Didn't think much to the place though. Apart from the accuracy of the seagull bombing, went behind my shades, hit my eye, then out the botom and into my pint! Mrsand mini Nico still laugh about it today.

Too Much Water
Minehead seemed ok but the sand isn’t a nice colour which somewhat ruins the beach vibe.

When I was there in 2019 I witnessed this incident.

That was scary. They do get quite the offshore breeze because of the moor.

Went to Skeggy many times as a kid, not returned often as an adult. We went for a day with the on laws a couple of years ago and it’s still just a dreadful place full of pissed, angry ex miners from Worksop.
