Is it me, or are they stupidly hard to open? I was resorting to teeth and everything the other day, and chatting to another runner last night they had experienced the same problem?

What The Actual Fleecy
Any gels in that sort of packaging. Hence I stick to jelly beans, dates and dried apricots instead :)

I find that with lots of gels, if you get lucky and get a tear going, they're fine - but if you start getting to the point where the plastic is stretching, it's not going to end well :-)

It's the hardest part of marathon training, Herm, to get a SIS gel open successfully mid-race.

I had to run the last 6 miles of my first ever half marathon with a gel all over my face. Squirted all over me, so it did :-o

Cut a couple of nicks into the opening and they'll open easier.

I always seem to manage to squirt the damned thing all over myself.
Have switched to shotblox :-)

It makes a real difference which direction you tear them. At least, I think it does. Could be psychological.

High5 gels are much easier (and on 2-for-1 in lots of places at the mo). I'm a bit of a convert.
