Aargh! I think I will head to A&E shortly. I am not sore enough to be taking pain killers today as long as I don't move too much or in the wrong way.

What Winded said. If you've been in that much pain (even if it does ease off at times) you need to go and get checked out. Let us know how you get on.

Well I got it checked out. Luckily I didn't have a long wait and was triaged straight to cubicles and not back to the waiting area like others. Doctor was confident there is no damage other than bruising/soft tissue. Paracetamol and ibuprofen until it stops hurting. Thanks for words of wisdom.

LG I have encountered lovely, helpful receptionists but yesterday's one was downright obstructive. I think she might have been trying to protect the GP's though.
