Andrea B
Hmmm I came on the thread to report that I hated SB's as I tried them for the first time during Edinburgh mara last year and threw the packet away after the first one........but i'm now looking at doing my first ultra in 2 weeks and don't think i could stomach loads of gels so might pack a few SB's to try letting them dissolve in my mouth rather than trying to chew my way through one!

I used them for my first ultra on Sat. 3 every 45 minutes - worked a treat. I interspersed with a couple of gels but much prefer the Shot Bloks. Did have some real food too, not much though.

I found that there's a time limit for how long I could run time wise before I really wanted something that wasn't artificial... about 6 hours I think it was.

Ultra Sparkly Bridget
I love them and don't find them hard to chew at all. No need for water unless I'm drinking anyway. Bonus is that I sometimes find a bit stuck in my teeth a bit later on. Other good thing is that they are carb and electrolytes whereas many gels are carbs only (in the form of maltodextrin which is what they use to make stamps sticky).
