Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thanks Flanker - v interesting about foot care. I am Thorlos sock fan, and agree they dry nicely and are well padded. Think I need to find some heavier, more protective shoes but which have nice comfy sole. Hmmm... thanks folks. :-)G

Another bit of advice...

If three miles into a 100k on the fell you realise that you haven't washed your socks properly and they are still full of grit, don't ignore it. It will cause blisters!

Luckily it wasn't anywhere too important , but it did f*cking hurt for the next 60 miles.

Re socks: merino all the time, every time... Never had blisters or other issues and they keep your feet warm when wet... Don't get on with Sealskins...

Merino gets too warm for me in Summer.
For long stuff I wear Injinji toe socks as I think they give me a bit more protection, but I think I mostly need them because the toe box of my shoes is a bit roomy.

I only ever wear wool socks for running. I'm not bothered about expensive merino but usually wear Running Bear now runningbear.co.uk

funny enough coming back from a winter run in the lakes I stopped at Hadrian wall for a run.it was windy and freezing and had no warm running tops left that were clean so I stuck a next pure wool jumper on over a technical T and it works a treat .
