Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Sorry, my ignorance Flip. I've just seen that there is a trail as well as a road. Good protection sounds like what I need. And I know you know Lundavra well, so that's a great recommendation from you.

I like the Mizuno Ascends, in fact have now bought three pairs. They might not be great at anything but are the most adaptable. Road, fell, ice, snow, bog, grass, rock, they handle everything..... and for a wuss like me they are comfortable. ;-)

DT, If partner wore Wave Harriers for a successful BGR that is a huge recommendation :)

+1 for the Mizuno Ascends - though they are probably too much shoe for you HG - 10/11mm drop, and they dont have a rockplate. You could try merrill(sp) mix masters - 4/6 mm drop and and reasonable race plate. Or Brooks Cascadias - I think the latest version has 8mm drop + rockplate

I get sore feet under my big toe joint in wave harriers when doing long distance and/or very hard underfoot conditions.

I think this is because the wave harriers are quite inflexible and also quite flat in the sole and I have high arches.

Wave are a slightly more cushioned version of the harriers with less grip. I wasn't impressed by them.

I love my speedcross 3s, but find the uppers go quite easily. Which is disappointing for such an expensive shoe. They also don't quite have the grip for steep (lakeland) downs at speed.

I'm thinking of trying the new mudclaws.

You could also look at the Mizuno Cabrakan. - it's a very grippy shoe with good protection.
