7/4 time. Putting this here as a reminder to me to watch more of these videos. Time signatures are still smoke and mirrors to me.

I do understand time signatures and life is too short for me to click that link, but from memory I suspect what is called 7/4 is usually alternating bars of four and three beats. All You Need Is Love being the easiest to remember example.

That sort of echoes what I mean. To me, bar placement can often seem to be somewhat arbitrary. What you say is correct about 7/4, it just saves you having to alternate between 3/4 & 4/4 in each bar when written down. There's also an interesting bit about 7/4 shuffle.

I promised myself I'd do ABRSM theory at one time, on the assumption I'd breeze through grades 1 and 2 on the back of being around church music for 50 odd years. So I bought the books and decided there was more to it than I'd kidded myself.

Hummus recipe:

Proper hummus is served with a drizzle of olive oil, rather than oil being a significant ingredient in its own right. This is what should go in it:

• 1½ cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15-ounce) canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
• 3 tablespoons tahini
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 garlic clove, mashed
• ¼ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• Approximately 2-4 tablespoons room-temperature water or aquafaba, or more if needed
• Optional garnishes: extra virgin olive oil, sumac or paprika, finely chopped parsley or other herbs, whole chickpeas

This particular recipe from thymeandtoast.com but it’s typical of the Middle Eastern way of making it.
