I'm sure the course at Cramond can cope with 800 + as long as the funnel and scanning is well organised. However I think the path at Porty would be very congested with 500+. The faster runners will be into the back of the slower runners and not much room for overtaking

There has been a desperate need for more Edinburgh events for a while. And good reasons why there isn't.

There was a murmur of a Saughton parkrun? Heard naught more though. Here is my route for Hailes Quarry parkrun fetcheveryone.com/routes-view.php?id=1759360

But might the runners of Edinburgh venture to there? I suspect there other issues eg parking that might put the kybosh on it anyway.

Ion, spectated at the xc yesterday. Not that thrilling a spectacle. I'll need to watch the recording to see what happened. Not sure about that Castle run either - multiple starts of only 200 each over four hours gave it a real lack of buzz.

Funny Dvorak, those were two locations I thought of as I ran past them today. Hailes Quarry I think would be a possible. I think there is sufficient parking. Might need to pay the locals 50p to watch the motor though ;-)

Haven’t spoke to anyone since Saturday or before the race(earlier wave finishers) that didn’t enjoy the Stirling Castle event. Most of the folk concerned just did it to support a local event, but would now do it again.

some negative comments on FB.. people aren't happy there was no t-shirt given the cost, the paths were too narrow, it was not a "trail" event as advertised, the marshalling was a little unclear at times (and one of my friends was nearly taken out by a marshal cutting right in front of him). does seem to be positive feedback as well though so hopefully it will continue to be a successful event.

Tbh, if folk complain about narrow paths and not a trail event you can't win, bit difficult to have both.

There was as much off road as on, if not more iirc.

ha fair point

it does seem to have been a bit mis-sold though, from what I've heard it was mostly roads with just a few muddy sections

stirling castle the underfoot wasn't good when I did it at half 1, I went over on my ankle going up one of the hills, very slippy, very rough ground, not much room either. the bbc ignored us, which is good because I hate the bloody bbc anyway. Parking was good but I didn't have any change so had to find a car park. If the route wasn't as hilly I'd do it again no probs. Be better without the cross country I think though.
