Yes I would say the Linlithgow 10k is a race worth doing, well organised, a varied course ( not a very fast one) and a reasonable entry fee ( organised by the local club and charities so no rip-off prices)

Mixed feelings. Agree with SoaPM except I trashed my quads on the steep downhill and it caused periodic discomfort over several months. I did run it pretty fast (for me) on quite an active weekend so ymmv. So everyone else should consider entering* but I might give it a miss.

*and supporting the RD, Spikeyboy of these parts quondam.

I must admit although I enjoy the national XC I am a little bit put off by the increased distance. admittedly I'm not a good or quick runner, and probably don't really belong at the nationals anyway, but 10k of cross country just seems like an awfully long way

Linlithgow is an undulating course I'd say rather than particularly hard. You probably won't get a PB but it's a nice race, well organised, decent scenery and a good technical t-shirt to boot. If you're thinking about it - do it. You will enjoy it.

Ooh, ambitious, G. Boab was second one year, I've a pic somewhere on the FB of him and Katypie (expectant chip-snipper) at the finish

Agreeing with all of the above comments and recommendations. I've run it twice (very slowly to appreciate the niceness of the course) and helped at it on rather more. Mostly Tarmac on closed roads, except the mile or so on a narrow path alongside the Loch.

One oddity is that it's pretty much the only race I know that takes place on a Sunday afternoon - allegedly because there are so many churches in Linlithgow that they'd never get a road closure in the morning.
