The Aberdeen Nuffield Jogscotland 5k was atrociously organised I'm afraid to say. After signing up online we received no further information other than what was available on the website - ie the race started at 7pm in Hazlehead Park (which is HUGE). There was supposed to be a race instructions email which never came out so Run4It and Jogscotland HQ were deluged by complaints and queries from tonnes of runners; many of whom were gurning about it on the Jog Scot FB page, to which there was, and as yet has not been, any response.

The start wasn't signposted and was not within sight of registration, the local marshalls had no idea what they were doing and had no guidance from the organisers. There was also a severe lack of marshalls/sign posting on the course which lead to the leading pack getting lost. At the finish there was only bottles of water, despite goodybags/medals/tshirts being promised; however the marshalls didn't think to redirect us back to the registration tent where the goodybags etc were being handed out. And finally; don't even get me started on the 'entertainment' which was an aging pub singer in a silver flared catsuit and blonde 70s wig, singing along to a backing track in a portable trailer stage and never getting any closer to the notes she ought to have been hitting than a minor 2nd below.

There was, however, a fantastic Fetch contingent with about 12 of us wrapped up in winter running gear to combat against the biting wind and sideways rain. The course itself was mainly on muddy trails/grass which suited me just fine but I think some fragile souls may have been traumatised by having to run through ankle deep puddles with archipelagos of horse poo floating across them.
Fun course, good company but very poor show from JogScotland; given that this is an event supposed to attract new runners, I hope too many weren't scared away from racing. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the events work out across Scotland...

Pity you didn't have some business cards for parkrun, you could have invited people to come and see how a 5K should be run. As long as they didn't come on a day where they were sandblasted.

That's a shame, RedWineRunner. Have you thought about emailing them your feedback? I've only done one of their events two years ago (Edinburgh), which was well organised and friendly, if I remember correctly (apart from the swans on the course that wouldn't budge and go away).

I have done, SpicedApple - it all boils down to major communication failure and I expect more from an established race ran by a functional running company such as JS.

'archipelagos of horse poo' - That's the best turn of phrase I've seen in a long while :-).
