a question about running groups.... I can currently only doing about 5 miles just now. Would I make an arse of myself by going along to a running / athletics group even though they say they cater for all abilities...

where were you thinking of going, kaiser?

If it's Jogscotland you would be able to run with an intermediate or indeed advanced group without any bother, most clubs too cater for all abilities (but some have different definitions of that!)

I couldn't answer for every running club, but the one I am a member of does what it says on the tin and all levels of runners are catered for. I joined about two year ago and people were really welcoming and encouraging, so give it a go at your local club.

we welcome runners of all levels - and I say that as a club secretary. We have runners ranging from race winners with scottish vests through to those who aim to beat the hour for a 10k but we all do intervals together on a Tuesday night = emphasis on together - start positions etc adjusted to ability.

Hope that settles your anxieties Kaiser. On another topic, does anybody have any info about the Historic Stirling Run(Not a race). I couldn't get anything through google and am just curious.

Start on page 48 of this thread Gerry and you will know everything there is to know about it! It was a bright idea of Dvorak's that turned into an event (Not a race though!)
