The Ignis 10k is looking increasingly unlikely :-( not getting the hang of this asthma stuff yet. Any recommendations for a 10k for later in the year where I'm not going to feel out of place at a 1.20 finish? Suppose it needs to be either very big or very friendly?

If you run 1.35 at Inverness you might even get overtaken by the winning marathon finisher! Pleasant and easy course on the whole as well.

Oh yes ... should have definitely added "mostly flat" and "things to look at" into the requirements list. Didn't think about Loch Ness ... and it's late enough to be guaranteed not too hot as well :-) Hmmmm.... thanks :-)

Loch ness is ace, it's basically downhill and very friendly - no worries about finishing times. I love it

Saw a poster for the Callander X 10k today. Promising one of Britain's most stunning 10K routes. It is already listed, but what particularly caught my eye is it is £8 up to the 18th then £12.50 afterwards, so I though I would flag it up.

Duchess, you would still be well among the crowds with 1:20 at the Glasgow 10K, but don't write off the Women's 10K yet. Even if you finished in 1:40, you would still have 1000 people behind you.

that's a shame duchess because its such a good fun race but I hope that you and your doc can get you sorted so that the asthma is under control for when you are running, that must be hard to do. There is a 10k option at the great Glasgow run in September too, half marathon was fun last year and my friend did the 10k and really enjoyed it because they went off first and it was a very hot day so they missed the worst of the sun.

Other than that loads of people came in a long time after me in the Edinburgh 10k in October and I'm slow but I can't bring myself to recommend it completely because they were so crap at shutting off the route and that's where I got knocked to the ground by some eejits crossing the road bringing lots of other runners to a halt to help pick me up and putting me out of action for a few weeks after I decided (foolishly) to keep going and finish the race on a melon sized ankle.
