Jacs, I did the 5k race last year. It was the Scottish Road 5k Championship and the field was high quality. I agree about the price of some races. I paid £32.50 to enter the Edinburgh half this year - I won't do that again. Can I nominate also the Perth Road Runners Brig Bash 5 miles on 4th July - fast flat course, food after and all this for £5. Great value.

Ohh that Perth Brig Bash race sounds fun - can slow people do it? (i.e its not a high class championship race or anything is it?)

Brig Bash is a good one, fairly small event but a big spread. Here are last years results perthroadrunners.co.uk If you are over say 65 mins for a 10K be prepared to be in the last few places. Here is what people look like whilst running it: |

Jacs, I watched the 5k last year as it was right before the marathon and I didn't want to get injured, I may do it tisyear. The rest of the races in the Sri Chinmoy summer series in the Meadows on a Wednesday night are a bit less formally organised and are only £2 per race. They are a mixture of 1m, 2m and 5k races, this year's race list should be out fairly soon. The quality is high (mostly club runners) so I've come last many times but it's a good challenge. |

Cool, it will be fun to see Fetchies at it, I actually don't mind coming last or nearly last nowadays, just keep telling myself that I'm fitter now than I was in my 30s and as I was roundly told here in Fetch after feeling sorry for myself after a last place half marathon finish last year I may not be good but I'm doing it!!! (story of my life:)) TD, I fancied some of the other races on the meadows last year but always seemed to have something else come up, I'll be doing some this year |

Ok, that's everything up to date For those wanting to do Dvorak's Stirling run he's called it the "Historic Scotland Run (not a race)" and the link for it is below http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=69151 |

jacs - you're spot on with the extortianate prices charged for some events. I've been disgusted (yours, disgusted, of Fife...) by the ridiculous fee for the R&R HM and wouldn't run for that reason alone. There are loads of brilliant races out there which are sensibly priced, as opposed to being rip-off marketing inventions. I reckon that £1 a mile (or thereabouts) is pretty good for a race

Andy, this year's Dunfermline Half Marathon has been cancelled becuase the organisers said that not enough people wanted to run road half marathons any more. But the successof Alloa and Loch Leven shows otherwise. It's got a lot to do with value for money. Alloa and LLHM are run on a non-profit basis by the Round Table and KRR, whereas Dunfermline was run by GSI events.
