Bugger off with the triathlon entry stuff..... this is getting dangerously close to thinking IM Wales may be a good idea. Again.

(again as in thinking it again not as in i actually did it.... or anything like it.... other than watch an dance on the red carpet at midnight :) )

That triathlon looks really good will have a wee think about it , it would probably be the cycling that I might struggle with.

Re Carnethy 5 if anyone has a place and has second thoughts or knows anyone who has to pull out for any reason my hubby (bedlam_g) would very much appreciate if you would consider transferring your place to him. His silly wife promised to get his entry sorted out and then forgot! (errhmm yeah OK it was me!!) . So please consider him if you hear of any spare places! Cheers!

dd, there's a waiting list for Carnethy 5, if you sign up, you'll get put on it. That's your best way of getting in, but to be fair, the waiting list is pretty big.
Too much publicity for the event.

I forgot I posted about tri's and forgot to put this thread on watch list. I was looking at Stirling as my sister lives in Dunblane and it's a *cough* nice excuse for a visit. There are loads locally as well though. AC - I forgot you did the Stoney one. I think I am about to take the plunge and buy proper bike shoes - my feet get frozen in my north face trainers and overshoes won't work :( I'm thinking shoes now, then cleats n pedals and stuff later in the year. This tri stuff is expensive.

HP, that's how I did it a few years ago. Bought the shoes and then just used them with cages (for the best part of a year) before buying pedals. I've got Specialized Taho shoes which are MTB-style but have also served me well in triathlons.

Hi there, I would def go with mtb-style shoes as in a tri they`re easier for a wee jog when exiting/entering transition with the bike. The quickest transition I ever had was during my first ever duathlon, when I did the run/bike/run in the same pair of trainers. My subsequent tris had longer faffage in transition when changing from cycling shoes to running shoes in T2, but I was faster on the bike when clipped-in :-)
