Wow! I as bloomin hoovering at 5pm too - can't remember when I last hovered the stairs! Must've been some kind of protection mechanism kicking. To save me from myself an only entry to daft races ;)

Enjoy!

Evening all. Smout led me stray (from a distance) and I ended up doing hill reps this afternoon :-o Then I entered the Rock`n`Roll and the EMF half marathons. No marathons this year for me

Hello lovely scottish people. I was just wondering if anyone has done the Stirling sprint tri. I was considering it as a first sprint but more than a little worried about being last by a long way. Do they get all levels doing it or is it hardcore athletes only??

I think Smout did it last year as a first tri (?) A friend of mine was also entered for it as a first but had to pull out of training when she got whooping cough. It's very much marketed as "all levels" - last year's times ranged from 42 minutes to 1 hour 48 (but I have no idea if that's fast / slow or otherwise!)

I suspect smout is a different breed of athlete to me tho....ie a bloody good one :) I will go and do some maths based on my novice times and work out how much of a fool I'd make of myself. Not convinced I'll be ready by then anyway.

Halfpint there are all shapes and sizes and speeds enter that one. From those on high speed road bikes to oldies on those bikes with the basket at the front! I've went along the past few years to shout and holler and keep Jules R company while he marshalls.

That's even worse Lintie. Nowt more embarrassing than being beat by an oldie on a bike with a basket :p Will see how the training goes over next couple of months. 4 months without exercise = zero fitness. With luck it'll come back quick :)

LOL Duchess an HP - I actually only did the novice one as a last minute affair when a friend pulled out and could transfer the week before. I won :-o from a 9 minute+ 400m pool swim which included some interesting technique (think just under 10 including the fairly long dash to transition area where I caught an passed 2 folk!). It was my 2nd novice (1st was Eyemouth in the Oct before) and I did the 'Summer' Solstice tri in the Pentlands (reservoir swim and weather as far from summer as you can get without actual snow). I enjoyed Stirling the most I think :)

There were all sorts of ability in the main event from what I remember too. I'm thinking about doing the sprint if I can learn to give my bike a bit more TLC.... and visit a pool (not been in the pool or on a bike this year yet :-o )

Ellem an Son-of-E both did Stirling too :)
