..and I suffered for it last year when I put in an accurate 2011 half marathon time of 1h 48 and got handicapped against my 2009 race winning time of 1h 42. Got overtaken the whole way :-o

Scotty, Ive had a raw deal from the handicapper every year, probably cos they dont know me and they start me virtually at the back just in case I win. I have been honest with them and told them my anticipated time (which I have always run slower than !) and state of fitness yet they still handicap me to run faster than my PB. Even when I said I was just back from injury I got a handicap better than my PB and I was overtaken by the back markers inside 2 miles and ran in last place until inside the last half mile when I passed a few. Last year I picked up an injury after entering so was didnt run, but they hadnt even told me in advance what my handicap was (but I could guess). I wont run it again.

Bazo, I fell apart on the final 5k last year. I went off far too fast (trying not to be overtaken), went through 10 miles in a PB time...then the wheels came off big time! If I do it again this year it`ll be purely for fun, I`ll keep the pace real...and I think I`ll just head for the start instead of going to Leith to get the coach.

Upcoming races in Scotland

parkruns

There are 8 regular parkruns in Scotland which are held every Saturday at 9:30am.

Current locations are Aberdeen, Camperdown, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Inverness, St Andrews and Strathclyde.

Updates will be provided if we find out any races are not going ahead.
