HT I'd love to say yes but I'm a lazY bag and I know I wouldn't. Nearly 10 years experience backs this up

KP so long as we are honest with ourselves. Stick to your plan as is then. :-)

hmmm hadn't really thought about cobbles for the meadows, its so handy though that I may take a wee wander through to Edinburgh and recce it (only time I am at the meadows is to see the Ladyboys each year!). I need races lined up to keep me running otherwise I just go to the gym and do classes instead and the marathon still seems a looooooong way off even though I know it will come round too fast in reality.

Well done to you Greenmantle folks, I love hill walking but not sure about running up them! I'm always in awe of the fell runners I see every year when I go for my wanders in the Lake District those buggers go flying down scree slopes that sheep can't stay upright on.

Pros

The convenience

Cons

8 times up Middle Meadow Walk
8 times over the cobbles in George Square
the on course support (including things like the samba band) aren't there until everyone has finished so the last lap and a half was a bit lonely

Other

the year I did it after the race there was a queue to get a certificate of completion - no medal
and Scotty had to send me the results which he mumped ;) off the organisers

Hmm, I think i'll try Inverness instead. I thought last year, when I walked through the meadows on race day, that it looked a bit disorganized and there seems to be more cons than pros!
