That is really awful to hear.

I was out for a cycle on Sunday as I am not able to run and there were two roads I ended up on where I felt quite vulnerable with traffic buzzing around me.

I know what you mean HG, it’s obviously good advice. But the problem is that you can be very careful and some idiot runs you down. Especially when you’re cycling.

Absolutely Soapy, didn't mean that being mown down by a car or van driving dangerously is anything you can affect, but more just a general, be careful, hug your nearest and dearest etc. heart

The rules of the road, the enforcement of those rules and the road and public rights of way network basically need a complete, ground up, overhaul.

It won't happen though.

The report I read last night (forget which paper/website) stated the cyclist collided with a van. This is something I have read a lot when cycling accidents are reported and which I think is a compete misrepresentation of what is likely to have happened.

All three of my very near misses on the bike have been due to drivers not paying proper attention. I have had countless occassions of a very close pass as well

That was the Daily Record and I noted that too Bazo. As you say, it is much more frequent that the motorised vehicle collides with the cyclist.

Met Chris a few times at various races and ran in his Melrose races. Very sad situation.
