RunningInCircles - Big Ones ;-)
I put a lot of miles on my S-Lab 5. Very comfy, but I ditched it because of the fiddly clips. Having a pair of gloves in the back and fingers too cold to work the dinky and awkward clips was what killed it for me.
Gone for an ultimate direction pack instead.

I have the smaller "5" one and love it - it's much more comfortable than my waist pack, the soft bottles mean you don't have to listen to water sloshing around all day, it has plenty of room for anything I'm going to need to carry.

I also find a full waist pack giives me back ache after more than about 12 miles

I was looking at someones 5 at the weekend, I didn't like that there was no zip to close the main compartment just some silly clip. Is it the same on the 12?

That was interesting and I have already put my "emergency" kit in a dry bag so it's all in one place and ready if I need it. Like the jacket over pack idea might change which waterproof intake to accommodate my pack 😃

Yes. The S-lab 12 is an excellent piece of kit. I'm the wrong shape for bumbags and normal running rucksacks, but the fit of the S-lab (the smallest size), and the way the weight is distributed, makes it very easy to run with.

There are lots of pockets. It's fairly obvious what kit should be stowed in each.

Lil - is yours the 5L or the 12L?

I'm very, very tempted by the 3L now. I love my UD vest but still...

Bint - the one you have seen me in is the 5l (although I do have the 12l as well) :-)
