Hello all. What are your general experiences running with a cold? I have a 10k tomorrow, but picked up a really nasty cold on Wednesday that is still lingering (coughing, blocked nose). Should I give the 10k a miss or will I be alright to go? |

I ran my last 10k with a cold and chesty cough and I'm asthmatic. I didn't feel too bad during the run and got my target (sub 60), which wasn't a PB but was never going to be even if I'd been fit. However after the run I felt rotten, had a big coughing fit as soon as I stopped and it took me 2 weeks to get over it. Still loved the race, but it was a stupid thing to do.

Sorry never understood why anyone would run competitively if they feel ill. Unless you're likely to win and the prize money will be enough to retire to the Bahamas I'd give it a miss. There's always next week/month/year...
