Muscle weight is not good when running. Your more prone to injury etc.
Since taking up running this year, after gym work to keep myself nice and trim/muscular.. I lost it all :( a stone in total I think.
Now im addicted to running and look much slimmer. Im getting married in April and want to bulk up again.. but this WILL effect my running.

Jase - if the tall bloke was flying he probably was cheating although I couldn't quote the exact rule surely feet on the ground is essential ;-)

You don't have to bulk up doing weights though, strength is good for running.

I like to do weights as well as running / core work I don't want to get big & muscular so have been doing high reps (15+) and light weight to help build strength and maintain my current build. I'm 5'9 / 65kg. A healthy diet has to a factor too.

O yeah, I wasnt saying you have to bulk up by lifting weights, Im fully aware of that. Its just personal preferance in my appearance. Im naturally slim but when Ive bulked up I feel more comfortable with myself. Plus the misses likes it. I just wanna look good in suit!

Dont get me wrong, i do work out on my core and at lower weights. If I can keep my heart healthy then im happy.

Well this thread seems quite interesting.

I've put on weight over the last year or so, after losing quite a bit when I started running (friends were asking if I was ill :))

My race times have got a bit slower as a result

I am thinking I should incorporate more core work, though I've never thought of doing weights.

I'm trying to eat quite healthly, though I have to say beer tends to be my downfall.

Also for strength, low reps and high weight is the way to go, and does not need to lead to bulking. The strongest guy at my gym is one of the slimest
