I will, and i'll also wear my racing flats ;-)

My gym isn't bad for grunters, or maybe I just tune them out. I'm sure i'll hear every single grunt at the gym tonight now though!

Iris & V'raptor - thanks for the race updates, well done both. Doing a 10k this weekend so will put this weight loss theory to the test.

I've found that really working on weights and core/stability stuff as well as explosive circuits has got the weight loss moving again - it's slow, but it's definitely coming off.

I am in a fatty moment this days, the heaviest I have been in about 3 years :-( need to shed about 3 kilos to be back to normal and then 4 to be at my optimal weight ... difficult task!!!

obv the above isn't a helpful contribution to the debate.

for me endurance and speed endurance require good core strength, weight is affected by developing core strength, speed etc. losing weight per se isn't going to help anyone, particularly if running endurance events (for me that's over 5k) losing weight could indicate a poor diet. a poor diet for an endurance runner will eventually lead to poorer performances along with muscle wastage and a heap of other problems.

contrastingly to Contro I'm the lightest I've been for several years and still almost 3 Stone(~18 Kg) over ideal :(

fairly recent addition of core work is helping my running, though how the exercises found my core under the blubber is a mystery ;)

remember when I was ideal weight slowly catching a tall and VERY obese bloke at mile 10 of race, was astounded how fit he was (I was 7min miling or better at the time)
